Founder Zack Shtein immigrated to the United States in 1972. Zack would go from house to house offering his handyman services for a small fee, and this was how he supported his family. Nothing was too difficult for him. He would repair gutters, patch broken drywall, paint rooms, and fix leaky faucets. It wasn’t long before word got around and most everyone in the neighborhood knew Zack, or had heard of him and his fairly priced services. He believed in quality and integrity. Neighbors and friends would contact him for all kinds of home improvement needs because they knew of Zack’s reputation, and this “Jack of all trades” handyman would soon become one of the premier remodeling contractors in the Chicago area.
Zack had a bigger vision for the Chicago home improvement business, and it wasn’t long before he took the first step to achieve it. He knew he wanted to build his enterprise up to a full-service remodeling firm, and to accomplish his goal, he knew he needed to hire a great staff. He put together the best team possible by finding people who shared his vision for craftsmanship, quality, and loyalty to customers. He also looked for people whom he could trust to maintain the heritage and reputation he had worked so hard to achieve.
Zack started his team by bringing in Alex as a partner. Alex has over 20 years of engineering experience. His resumé includes upscale hotels, multi-million dollar homes, and multi-unit residential dwellings.
The next logical team member was Zack’s son, Felix, was following in his father’s footsteps. He grew up helping his father and learned the trade by going on customer visits and job sites with him. Today, Felix oversees business operations and ensures that RCS sticks to Zack’s original vision of quality and superior craftsmanship at a fair price. Felix’s focus is on making sure every customer’s needs are addressed in a timely manner, and that jobs are completed on promised timelines and budgets.
Zack, Alex, and Felix continued to bring together a design and construction crew, and intentionally the majority of the RCS team’s workers and designers have no less than 20 years of experience. RCS believes that experience translates to quality craftsmanship, which every customer deserves.
RCS has a multi-lingual staff that speaks English, Russian, Polish, Italian, & Spanish. All of our staff members are friendly and courteous, as exemplified by our office manager, Dolores, who brings 20 years of managerial and customer service experience to the company and is truly an office manager who cares and loves helping people! All of our customers, along with anyone who calls, are treated as part of the family. Our strong customer relationships are what keep RCS in demand even when economic times are tough.
Because of Zack’s conscious effort to build his company on his beliefs, the same quality and integrity Zack introduced and passed on to his team are the foundation of Remodeling Chicago Suburbs. RCS hasn’t done its job if customers are “just satisfied.”
